Only two more days until we see you at the Forum for the 2017 Fix-it Fair! Just a few last-minute things we wanted to share:
- The regular Saturday farmers market will be happening next door until 1pm, so you can visit your local farmers and crafters at the same time. And if you grab a snack with compostable packaging at the market, bring your apple core or banana peel over to our McInTOSS game outside the Fix-it Fair for the chance to win a backyard composter courtesy of Halifax Regional Municipality!
- We’ve posted the schedule of workshops and prize giveaways, so that you can plan your day strategically (or just come for the whole day!). If you have kids, the morning is an especially good time to bring them – we’ve got a terrific art workshop starting at 11:45 followed by our draw for a kids bike.
- Did you hear Erin Trafford on Mix 96.5 this morning? She made some great points – like, being cheap is just as valid a motivation to learn to fix and DIY as being passionate about the environment! Thanks to Mix 96.5 for being our media sponsor! And don’t miss Erin’s workshop, The Courage to DIY, at 11am.
- Andus MacKinnon, a Radio/Television Journalism student at NSCC, made this radio PSA about our event – what a sweet surprise!
So bring your broken toasters and waffle irons, your chairs and vacuums, your cracked phone screens and your ripped jeans, your enthusiasm and curiosity! Learn about food waste, inspired art and creative crafts. Be the handyperson you want to see in the world. We can’t wait to see you!
